Washington University Scientists proved that bee venom is able to destroying the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) or the virus that causes AIDS. This research opens a new opportunities and a hope prevention and cure the HIV sufferer.

Research results were published in the journal Antiviral Therapy. The research describes how the use the bee venom called melittin and nano particles (as a carrier in the blood) be able to kill the virus that is the great enemy of human.

"Melittin attacking based on the characteristics of the HIV virus. Theoretically, there is no way for the virus to adapt, "said Joshua L. Hood.

"The virus must have a protective coating, the two membranes that protect the virus," Joshua L. Hood added.

Melittin and nano particles works specifically on HIV. So, do not harm the human cells. Hood complements the nano particles with the "protective bumpers", space on the surface of the nanoparticle. However, human cells will not fits with this protective bumpers.

By using the bee venom and nanoparticles, HIV could be eliminated from the human body.

This is different from the anti retro-viral treatments which only prevents the reproduction of the HIV.

Looking ahead, bee venom is expected to be used as one of a vaginal gel composition to prevent HIV infection. Bee venom can also be injected through human veins, allowing HIV sufferer to cured.
